Crisis Coordinator - Mental Health

We are currently seeking an experienced master's level Crisis Coordinator at our Clifton location.
Job Summary
The Crisis Coordinator is responsible for managing and delivering rapid, high-quality crisis intervention services to all individuals within the catchment area, including Passaic County and bordering towns in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Morris Counties. The primary goal is to determine and facilitate appropriate interventions in the least restrictive environment for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The coordinator maintains relationships with community partners and coordinates additional screenings, when necessary, in collaboration with SERV’s crisis response team and St. Joseph’s Psychiatric Emergency Services. This role requires availability on-call 24/7 to ensure continuous support and intervention.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the delivery of crisis intervention services, ensuring rapid and effective response to behavioral health crises.
- Conduct thorough assessments to determine appropriate interventions and facilitate these in the least restrictive environment.
- Maintain and develop relationships with community partners, ensuring seamless collaboration for crisis intervention and additional screenings.
- Coordinate with St. Joseph’s Psychiatric Emergency Services for additional screenings and interventions as needed.
- Work closely with SERV’s crisis response team to ensure coordinated care and intervention strategies.
- Provide supervision and guidance to crisis response staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all crisis interventions and follow-up actions.
- Be available on-call 24/7 to provide support and intervention as needed.
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for crisis response staff to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance crisis intervention services.
- Analyze crisis intervention data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Engage in community outreach and education efforts to promote awareness and understanding of behavioral health crisis services.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to crisis intervention services.
- Education: Master’s degree in a behavioral health field.
- Licensure Requirements: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT).
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years providing behavioral health care, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Crisis experience is essential.
- Certification: NJ Certified Mental Health Screener is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and compliance with qualification to drive a system vehicle.
- Strong knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts in the behavioral health field.
- Excellent crisis intervention and assessment skills.
- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with community partners and team members.
- High level of organization and record-keeping proficiency.
